An experience of discovery within the workplace
Coworking Space
The Meadows Building
Dallas, Texas
Gensler/CAPPA
WorkGarden provides a space that parallels to a garden through its methods of dividing space and the experience of discovery. As a garden defines spaces with paths and plants, WorkGarden defines spaces with architecture and function. The idea of discovery is achieved through the variety of walls and hidden elements. As the user is walking through the space, there is a feeling of exploration as they turn corners and discover things that walls were hiding. These spatial definitions were created after the study of workflow through the day and the adjacency of these functions to each other. Another determinant of the layout was the type of user. The most public part of the space is closest to the front windows and becomes more private towards the other direction.
A museum that gradually reveals the art
24’x14’x12’ Shoebox Museum
Featuring “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt
Flatiron Plaza, New York City
The design of the pop-up museum responds to Gustav Klimt’s painting, “The Kiss,” with the concept of a procession of staged revelation.
A movable, dual-function office unit
Dual-Function Transformation
Office Space
Satellite is the proposal to a dual-function design within an office environment. The concept derives from the function and aesthetics of natural and man-made satellites – harvesting information and orbiting around something.
A vibrant installation represents complexity and diversity
Installation - 6 Months
UTA CAPPA Building
Arlington, Texas
“Becoming” uses a representative of designers, Zaha Hadid, to show the process of abstract thoughts becoming something tangible. The box itself is the representation of a designer’s mind: the outside is ordinary, but once you step inside it reveals to be colorful and complex.
Zaha was chosen as the person to represent architects and designers because she reached into both fields of architecture and interior design, and she represents diversity.
The building pictured in the collage of images is Zaha’s design for the Guangzhou Opera House in China. It was chosen for the installation because of its contrast of exterior and interior forms: sharp angles on the outside, and flowing curves on the inside. The open triangular ceiling structure in the installation references the structure of the Guangzhou Opera House.
Simple, bold + experimental wayfinding
Installation - 6 months
UTA CAPPA Building
Arlington, Texas
This wayfinding project was an exploration of a wayfinding style in the CAPPA building. The concept was inspired by signage in The Venice Biennale of 2014 and by signage in the Seattle Public Library.
A fresh new look to revive a student organization
IIDA UTA Campus Center
Simple geometries and a bold splash of color now make IIDA’s posters stand out among others in the CAPPA Building. There was a need to draw interest to the posters, but there was even more need to uplift the feeling and brand of the student organization. This new branding gives a vibrant and energetic feeling to the organization, while keeping the graphics fresh and minimal.
